Oh Crap. You Need to Hire a Lawyer

I have been writing content for lawyers for years, so I’m finally going to say what I’ve always wanted to say to pretty much anyone who is having the type of day where they are considering hiring a lawyer:

I'm Sorry You Are Having a Difficult Day

There are a lot of ways that lawyers can help you; many times your legal process will leave your life much better off than you were before.  That said, usually on the day people realize they have to hire a lawyer, they are having a tough day.  I let you guess which of these has happened to me and which I’m still waiting for, but I can say (mostly) from experience that:

  • The day you realize you are going to need to file bankruptcy sucks.
  • The day you get bit by a dog sucks.
  • Getting arrested for a DUI or other charge is not fun.
  • The day you get into an auto accident…
  • The day you realize you are getting divorced… The examples go on and on.

Like I said… I am sorry you are having a tough day.

Every situation is very different

Every lawyer hiring process is different

My goal with this website is to help people who need to hire a lawyer get ready. In some cases that means understanding how a lawyer is compensated for your case. In other cases that might mean handling things that lawyers COULD do for you, but it might be better to do them yourself.

The things you can do to get ready to hire a lawyer are very different for different areas of law, so I’m not going to waste a lot of time trying to talk to everyone. Here are some areas of law I have information on:

Situations Where You Need a Lawyer

Divorce & Family Law

Workers' Compensation

Auto Accidents

Dog Bite Injuries

Why You Need an Injury Lawyer

Hiring a lawyer kinda sucks.

Not only is the issue that made you need a lawyer likely very difficult, but hiring a lawyer isn’t a lot easier. It might be the most expensive thing you pay for this year, and two weeks ago you probably thought nothing about lawyers. What’s worse, there’s no feasible way for you to interview more than 2 or 3 lawyers. Also, what are you really looking for? Someone who is kind and that you personally like? Or are you looking for some type of half-human-half-bulldog to unleash on the people who are giving you problems?
